Gifts for Friends and Family

My friends and family are very special to me. I wanted to send every one of them something awesome but my Christmas budget wouldn’t allow that. I still thought something more than a card was in order so I looked around and found Shower Steamers at a local store. The shower steamer dissolves in the shower releasing a beautiful sent creating a relaxing shower experience. This store wanted $4.50 per steamer. I needed 25 of them so that was a no go. I looked up the ingredients on the Internet and realized I could make about 100 of them for about $20! It took some time but they turned out great! It would have been a lot easier to just buy them but a little hard work saved me a ton of cash and I’m sure my friends and family will appreciate this small gift. Who doesn’t need a little help relaxing around the holidays?

20 Free Deodorants from Walgreens

I have been getting much better at the Walgreen’s game. Walgreen’s has a program called register rewards. When you purchase certain products, you get a register reward, or Walgreen’s money, at the register. You can use it on your next purchase. For instance, This week they are selling Doves Men Care deodorant for $3.99 each with a register reward of $3.00 so it is like paying $.99 for a stick of deodorant. I happen to have a $.99 coupon for this product so it becomes free for me. I had to a $30 airbed and a couple little toys for my kid’s stockings that I didn’t have coupons for so I was going to spend about $40 anyway so I used my register rewards from the deodorant for that stuff. The extra bonus was that the deodorant was buy on get one free! So I got 20 free deodorants. I know, that is a lot but we will not have to buy it for quite a while. It also makes a good stocking stuffer!

News Flash for Black Friday Virgins: 3-10 people die every year from the shopping frenzies!

If you are planning on shopping this  Black Friday, there are a few things you should know first:

1. Just because it is advertised as a “Black Friday Sale” does not make it a deal! Do your research first! Get the Thanksgiving Day newspaper in your area and flip through all of those ads. You might be surprised to notice how many of the ads are time-sensitive — as in, deeper discounts may apply if you shop before 10 or 11 a.m. or noon. Other ads will let you know what time certain stores plan to open and close. You can also use your smartphone to make sure it is a deal. Use an application like Scan Life to scan the barcodes on the product you want to buy and it will automatically tell you where the best price is!

2. You don’t need to leave your house and get trampled in stores to get the deals! A lot of the same great prices are offered online with free shipping! Just make sure you are at your computer with your credit card handy at midnight. Shopping online will keep you from being trampled and you can whear your pajamas while shopping and not feel weird about it.

3. Be prepared. Bring a list of what you plan to purchace to avoid any shopping frenzy regrets. Also bring the store ad to avoid any dispute over the price at the register.

Those are my top 3 tips for shopping the Black Friday deals! Good luck and remember this; 3-10 people die every year as a result of Black Friday shopping frenzies and thousands more get hurt so please, no pushing, yelling or biting to get that last flat screen tv!
